Almost Elegant No.2b

To be erotic, the objects of your interest have to be in a state of sexual ease, more dreaming than desiring, lying back nonchalantly, asleep, or miles away, wrapped in some narcissistic concern. They have to have forgotten about you and yet offer themselves to you in some strang way, with a sort of indifferent animalistic, gentle folly and involuntary nakedness. Only the body without desire is truly deserving of pleasure.
- Jean Barudrillard, “Cool Memories”

  1. that’s really a more a definition of the erotic aspect of voyeurism than the conditions of ‘erotic’ dont you think?

and anyway, are the frenchies really necessary?

    just quote some bataille.
    then everybody love you.

  2. Squashed says:

absolutely, unless you are talking about some telepathic creature, almost all of us ‘see’ other first as condition of perception. Then come the ‘knowing’, the interplay of consent, and hence the game of desire.

I doubt by quoting bataille, everybody will love me, not around the postmodern circle at least. Life is more complicated than simply being ‘shocking’ or stylistic existential despair.

I for one think, the interplays and drama in between are all the rage.

    jon the revelator said…

Your lead singer has a nice voice.

(The heavy Metallica influence is a bit too common tho’, as if the entire process is feeding a series of predetermined ‘I am dark and tough’ thought production. But the idioms is too common.

  4. Moka says:

Hey squashed, I agree with john, just quote some Bataille and you wont go wrong :)
The fortin-leveille link was wrong so I edited it. Nice songs btw.

  5. Makrugaik says:

That Jon. He being facetious. Don’t know him from a bar of soap, but that I know.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
