No I hadn’t seen them before. I found the contrast between the two girls in the Conan video to be particularly funny. Almost extreme opposites. :-)

I do prefer the more old-timey bluegrass though like Bill Monroe

I think escondida is Jolie’s greatest album. Her third is a bit too slow in some part, probably it’s just a matter of taste. But Springtime and crush in the ghetto are very sweet songs. I love them.

Boris and friends. I am not sure if I like them because they have more than that great “huge texture” trick heh…

I suppose I have to wait until somebody pick up their style and do something more.

M. Ward is great, so is that Chinese Translation video, hadn’t seen it yet. Thanks for the link jerseycynic.

I haven’t picked up that Jolie Holland record last year, but her previous album “Escondida” was fabulous. This song from the new album sounds great too.

I found the Sunn 0))) & Boris collaboration to be a bit disappointing. Maybe I was expecting the wrong thing, but I prefer their solo stuff, especially the Boris solo stuff. It was interesting to hear the contribution of Jesse Sykes on this album though. Her new album “Like Love Lust” should be great, would have fitted in nicely in your list.

thanks for the youtube links. Yeah Post-War, by M.Ward is a pretty good album. Dunno why people pick Joana Newsom over that one.
