Back at last…

Back at last! OH YES!!!!! I´ve been having SO much trouble with Wordpress you wouldnt BELIEVE! ARG! It´s been SO frustrating, but thank GOD it´s all over! I’d like to thank my best friend Koala… Koala I love you! you are the best marsupial in the whole whole world! *kissy kissy*
Ok… so… let us re-cap for just a second. I had some fairly good vacations over the winter, although all the family ended up getting mad at each other once again, but like a friend of mine once said “Christmas ain’t ’spose to be happy” I think he was right. But I got myself some amazing new headphones!
I’ve SO many things to share with you all, I’ve been keeping up with all the posts that have been made on the motel and I don’t know where to start, because I’ve got SO much music in my power it’s overwhelming and the other posts have been so good I’m not sure I’ll be able to rise to the occasion, but I’ll try.
I think that given my gleeful mood, I’m gonna start with a little mix of everything, how does that sound?
1. Gang of Four - Ether
2. Apostle of Hustle - My Sword Hand’s in Anger
3. The Low Low’s - Dear Flies, Love Spiders
4. Elefant - Lolita
5. Whitest Boy Alive - Fireworks
6. Lavender Diamond - You Broke My Heart
7. Frogpong - Talk to Me
Jmm… I think that list ended up being a rock list jaja! ok.. I’d like to make a small comment on each of the songs.
+Gang of Four punk quartet hailing from the birthplace of punk, UK. Normally I don’t pay much attention to new punk bands because I hate what punk has become in these late years, but I decided to give these guys a chance and I was surprised to listen to pure punk reminiscent of mohawk era.
+Apostle of Hustle, a mixture of Indie/Tropical/Folk Rock this Canadian based band delivers dynamic songs, like My Sword Hand’s in Anger, that slowly builds up a catchy melody with drums and sweet guitars. A bouncy, juicy song.
+The Low Low’s , this band really blows me away, they’re literally explosive. What I like about them is that their music takes on a beast-like apperance, their guitars with reverb to the max and a hypnotizing voice, it’s a perfect combination for staring at a blank wall imagining spiders writing love letters to flies. They actually remind me a bit of Portishead, I think that’s why I love ‘em.
+Elefant this four piece New York based indie band really gets my feet moving, especially this song, Lolita. I love how their sound is so… New York… they’ve got this whole dirty/bad-boy thing going on that transcends into their songs like saying “We’re cool… now give us a blow-job”.
+Whitest Boy Alive Made in Berlin, this four man group really captivated my dear little heart. I love how their sound is so simple and clean. The guitar sounds light as a feather, the drums are non-pretencious, the keyboard is beatsy and dreamy, and the voice is mellancollic but happy at the same time… what can I say, I just adore them.
+Lavender Diamond I found out about this great sound-machine thanks to an interview given by Devandra Banhart to a magazine… sorry I cannot remember when or where it took place. One thing I DO remember is that they asked Devandra what bands he thought would keep on pushing the musical envelope, and Lavender Diamond were amongst the extensive list, so I looked them up, and boy oh boy was he right. Their sound is pretty hard to describe.. I think you better listen to them yourselves.
+Frogpond is a girl-based band that hail from Missouri (I think), what I find most interesting about these gals, is that, to me, they sound like the female version of Nirvana, especially the lead-vocalist, when I listen to her… I can’t help thinking about a grungy girl with hicking boots, ripped jeans, chaotic hair… and why not? a scruffy 5 day-old beard *giggle*

Fishy, that pix is making me dizzy. :P
Just thought I,d let you know that the Gang of Four came out of Leeds,UK in 1977! They played for a number of years and I believe may have reformed recently after their early material was re-released.
you might of heard the mekons who formed out of the same art school crowd and are still playing today- possibly one of the best long term bands to come from the UK.
Keep up the fascinating music, I discover something new every day
Also check out my paintings on the website!

Gang of Four have indeed gotten back together recently.
