Three 2 a.m. Lists (Ambient translation)

Ambient Translation

01. Arcade Fire – My Body Is a Cage
(Neon Bible, 2007)

02. Miles Davis – Wait Till You See Her
(This is the best of Miles Davis & Gill Eans, 1997)

03. Massive Attack – Better Things
(Protection, 1995)

04. Franz Schubert – Piano Sonata No.20 in A Major
(Schubert: Piano Sonatas D 959, D 784, D 157 / Radu Lupu, 1991)

05. Moby – Myopia
(Ambient, 1993)

06. Marlene Shaw – Feel Like Making Love
(Blue ‘N Soul, 1992)

Note: A slightly moody and difficult 2 a.m. list. Essentially it’s Arcade Fire - Schubert list with various ambient padding. Very murky, a little too large and time sensitive, part of new generation experimental list really. This is not a general purpose list. There are two other, much better and larger list. But this one is smaller so I post this first. Enjoy.

all the songs in the list get along great with each other, it made my day!!

heh, thanks. I suppose if it’s slow and soft enough, anything with same key can go together.

But that list takes me forever to build. I keep changing the order. The Moby track is a little too rough for the list. I wish I have time to dig for softer minimalist/pop electronica.

‘night vision’ by Daft Punk and ‘olson’ by BoC could fit in the list smoothly if you are looking for soft electornics

Okay thanks, I’ll do it for next series. Right now, I need daytime/brighter list, cause I have 2 big late night list line up. Things will turn too gloomy, I need to that balance thing.

    very relaxing Schubert’s track

I like the inclusion of that Marlene Shaw song, I was listening to them in the morning and I like the flow of one track into another… I’m still having trouble convincing myself about the arcade fire record, need to pay more attention.

Nah, forget that comment, to be honest I’m in love with neon bible.-

It’s an okay album. I really like one song, ocean of noise. It’s a simple straight forward rock. The entire album isn’t experimentally grand, but it has its moment and personality.

Besides the fact that this is all really good, I like that I actually found it around 2 am.

Wow, I didn’t even remember this list. Confianzas one is much better IMO. and btw. don’t look for the last list of the three. I won’t post the last one because it has certain labels song that I now won’t post. But I’ll make new 2am series soon.

btw. Madame sankare list is still my favorite. It has a lot of good late night songs.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.
