I Remember Nothing More

While I tried to find something for a friend last night, lots of old tracks that were hidden and forgetten made me dwell. I felt exceptionally happy relistening to them. They were those that I used to love, used to favorited, and used to dance to, used to sing along to. Today I just found more of them.

As I said last night on my own blog, those “old songs” might be quite old-fashioned, might be heard by too many people, and even might be called “awful” nowadays(of course I show you the good ones here — I keep the silly ones to myself as my lil secrets.) One could just be so surprised and touched by those their ancient favorites, for what they have brought them when they were younger: those you shared with your best friends and also whom you called have similar taste with you; the saddest songs that you and the one who broke your heart both loved; and maybe one or two you particularly loved but nobody else did. Like mine, some tracks could be dated back to my high school time, and even when i was middle school. And almost each song has stories behind, and could be related to one or a few person that happened to my life. Sweet, bittersweet, or just so bitter that could still make you cry.

Forgetfulness is just horrible. I wish I had a pen in my head that could write down every small detail and feeling. Wish I remember everything.

Thank you for all of this specially for the II and IV sections. Do any of you know if ‘come wander with me’ was used in a movie or a tv commercial? Sounds familiar to me but don’t know where from.

I love that song. Also used for an RSV insurance company commercial, a pretty good one I have to add:

Love the thoughts and the songs, sarkailli. Great post. Really curious about those guilty pleasure songs you didn’t shared with us ;)

Heh, yes we can’t memorize everything, our memories are always somewhat selective. And you know, I don’t have a problem with that. It’s just that we can’t make the selection ourselves…

Your selection of songs is very nice though. ;-)

Oh wonderful! I just heard “Psycho” on my local freeform radio station the other week and was very attracted to it, but didn’t catch who played it. It was forgotten for the moment… I usually keep a pad of paper handy to jot down names, lyrics, anything, my only tool in this combat against my terrible short term memory, but this tactic doesn’t work so well in the car. Now the memory has been recovered.

    Here’s to remembering.

Sequins and Skeletons is one of the most exciting unknown bands out there. I am glad to see them getting some love. Thanks.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
