Dark Stars in the Dazzling Sky pt.3

Where in the first two instalments of this series the sky was illuminated with scorching psychedelic freak-outs, now we’re gradually slowing things down and glide into more dark territory. Although we still start off with the frantic psychedelia of La Otracina, soon the music slows down with the more spaced out and hypnotic rock of Pharaoh Overlord and continues to gradually decelerate from there on.

This part three acts as a bridge towards the next three instalments of the “Dark Stars in the Dazzling Sky” series in which we’re going to leave the sonic attack of exploding stars and spiralling galaxies and start exploring the infinite emptiness of space with ultra dense, spaced out and dark drones and ambient. As like before, I like to keep the playlists listenable by keeping them at least under 70 minutes each, hence why the tracks are relatively short in numbers.

  1. La Otracina - Nine Times the Color Red Explodes Like Heated Blood
Tonal Ellipse of the One (Holy Mountain, 2007)
  2. Pharaoh Overlord - Mountain (live)
The Battle of the Axehammer (live) (Last Visible Dog, 2004)
  3. Vibracathedral Orchestra - A Natural Fact
    Wisdom Thunderbolt (VHF, 2007)
  4. Sunroof! - Universal Acceleration
    Cloudz (VHF, 2003)
  5. Tsurubami - Gekkyukekkaichi
    Gekkyukekkaichi (Strange Attractors, 2003)

“listenable” haha! that is one problem for drones on mp3 blogs. now i consider that stream playlist would be really helpful. sometimes the most beautiful part of a song might appear at the end but who would be that patient! i shall think about doing same thing next time. anyways, the word “dazzling” really fits those songs well :) thx for the Tsurubami btw!

Thanks for visiting Adam. Heard you’re playing on the new Phosphorescent album, looking forward to that one!

@ saisai: Hahaha, you’re probably right, but don’t underestimate our dear readers, they are true musical connoisseurs with a never-ending hunger for new music. :-)

@ sarra: yeah, Sunn O))) is very awesome, maybe I’ll use one of their tracks for a future playlist in this series.
