Call of the Water

First let’s get near the water
Deep Listening Band - Cave Water
Troglodyte’s Delight (1990 Deep Listening)
Now fall into its body
Badly Drawn Boy
- Fall in a River
The Hour of the Bewilderbeast (2000 XL Recordings)
Getting drowned is trippy. To watch the water flows by and feel the touch of water surround you is obsessive. It’s safest place and no one and nothing bothers. We could have a nice walk at the bottom of the lake, or maybe, have a long comfortable dream along the sound of the waves.
Piano Magic - Son de Mar 1
Son de Mar (2001 4AD)
Ruth White - Mists And Rains
Flowers Of Evil (1969 Creel Pone)
Stuart Dempster - Secret Currents
Underground Overlays From The Cistern Chapel (1995 New Albion)
Andrew Liles - Part 2
The Dying Submariner (2006 Beta-Lactam Ring Records)
Grouper - Shadow Rise, Drowned
Wide (2006 Free Porcupine)
Luciano Cilio - Della conoscenza
Dell’universo Assente (1977 Die Schachtel)
Ketil Bjørnstad & David Darling - The River IV
The River (1997 ECM)
Linda Perhacs - Call Of The River
Parallelograms (1970 Remastered and released in 2005 Wild Places)
Anne Briggs - Standing on the Shore
The Time Has Come (1971 Sony)
Deep Listening Band - Rainy Delay
Troglodyte’s Delight (1990 Deep Listening)

Nice! Excellent companion for my sea related post from a while back actually. I even see we share the Andrew Liles track. So that’s the Piano Magic track you told me about back then? Very nice track indeed, very atmospheric.
Impressive collection of labels this time around too: Creel Pone, ECM, Free Porcupine, Die-Schachtel, Beta-Lactam Ring, New Albion… I especially love that Stuart Dempster track. You’ve recommended his music to me before, I can see why now, haha. Very beautiful track. I only knew him from his contributions to the Deep Listening project with Pauline Oliveros, but now I see I will have to get some of his solo stuff too. :-)
Funny coincidence that you posted something by Luciano Cilio from the Die Schachtel label. I was introduced to this release just a couple of days ago through the latest edition of Hatch on WFMU. Since their Zeit series I’ve been a big fan of Die Schachtel, I was just about to order some of their older releases including this one by Luciano Cilio. :-)
Very beautiful. The Son de Mar album was actually comissioned as the soundtrack for the movie of the same name by spanish director Bigas Luna, very recommended watch. Thank you.
The Piano Magic track is lovely, thanks.
Very nice theme with some wonderful songs! Thanks. I always love to see Linda Perhacs mentioned anywhere.
