Loving Her Was Easier Than Anything I’ll Ever Do Again

With Valentine’s Day as an excuse to finally finish this long-in-progress playlist, it suddenly appeared that this is actually an ode to After I Made Love to You by Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, the best song ever written about sex. And it couldn’t feel more perfect than to post this song today. The theme of this playlist is obvious. The songs unite in lyrical content, dealing with love, relationships and sex.
“If everything is imperfect in this world, love is perfect in its imperfection.”
~ Jöns in the Ingmar Bergman film Det sjunde inseglet / The Seventh Seal ~
Some of my favourite songs happen to be on here, the mysteriously romantic Summer Dress written by Mark Kozelek and the incredibly hot and erotic Captain Badass by Jason Molina. The picture from Fa yeung nin wa is used as it is one of my favourite and most erotic films I’ve ever seen, even though the characters in this film do not go any further than holding hands.
.
Eloquent, I soon retire
To nothing else I may aspire
After I’ve made love to you
In the dark I see you glisten
To your breath I lay and listen
After I’ve made love to you
In your arms I’m softly resting
Memories of you undressing
And your lips my final blessing
I never knew
The embrace that I’d been lacking
Has been found with kisses smacking
And two bodies there attacking
I and you
Baby why don’t we feel guilty
Why’s it seem we’re doing right
When we’re doing something filthy
In a rented room tonight
I think it’s cuz we love the now
We love forever love, and how
And my life’s your love, anyway
And your life’s my love, everyday
You are mine o now forever
Think of you always wherever
After I’ve made love to you
After I’ve made love to you

Wonderful lyrics–I am going to enjoy all of the songs. My sweetie and I are going to have to check out that movie as well. We’re big fans of Chinese films.
XXXOOO

So good! I believe this is one of my favorite valentine’s music post. A beautiful set of songs, a “seventh seal” quote & a still from one of my favorite movies! (Chungking Express is amazing as well, I think it’s Kahlo’s favorite film of all times) and I understand perfectly what you mean by “one of the most erotic films you’ve ever seen”, it’s such a perverse and sexually charged film in such subtle ways.
I still haven’t had any luck seeing “2046″ searched every movie corner in my city in the past couple of years with no luck… I suppose I’ll have to resort to the use of torrents against my will.
Moka, it’s called ‘torrent’ nobody goes to the theaters anymore. ya just download it.
I like going to the theatres very much. We went to the new Hsiao-hsien Hou last week called Le Voyage du Ballon Rouge / The Flight of the Red Balloon starring Juliette Binoche, an ode to the 1956 French short film Le Ballon Rouge / The Red Balloon. I really liked it, full of atmosphere, it breathed Paris in every shot, made me realize I need to go back there soon. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is: fuck torrents.
I have 2046 on dvd but was a bit disappointed by it, probably my expectations were too high after In the Mood for Love.
Saludos, feliz dia de San Valentin, la foto es de la pelicula “2046″ que es uno de mis films favoritos, obra maestra de cine romantico, increible…
abrazo de oso…
