Shadow Blues

It’s storming outside. You’re sitting by the stove getting warm while the sound of the howling wind and the rain clattering on the windows blends with the music. The phone rings. You just let it ring. Not tonight. There will be another day tomorrow. Tonight it’s just you, the music and the sound of the storm outside.
That’s the scene I picture for this playlist. This is dark music for staying inside, alone, while hiding from the howling wind and the rain. While hiding from everyday’s reality of the outside world. Shut the blinds, turn off the lights, close your eyes and listen to the storm outside blend with the music.

Oh sweet irony. There was a huge windstorm for two days where I live… Good thing that most of the time I didn’t leave my apartment and listen to the music. Good selection, thanks.
Yeah nice stormy weather here too in the Netherlands last weekend, enjoyed it a lot. That’s what inspired me to make this list and it also seemed as a good excuse to post this magnificent photograph. I can just look at it for hours, it’s absolutely perfect.
And thanks for your kind words.
When we go to a house that my grandparents have in the woods I always sleep in a separate small cabin with a stove very similar to that one. Actually the room in the photograph has a strong resemblance to it. I must remember to take some pictures next time I go there.
Bubba will you marry me?
This selection of music has three of my favourite songs of all time. Beautiful playlist, cheers.
Yes yes!! I’ll marry you and I’ll be your personal DJ!
I’m glad you enjoyed the list so much, thanks for letting me know!
Moka, you should definitely try to make the same picture with same lighting and all, would be great! Would love to see some of your photographs used here on the motel anyway.
Fantastic playlist. Wherever I have been listening to it (mostly in my tiny kitchen while cooking)a part of my mind has been hunkering down next to that stove, happily lonesome, smoking cigarettes and watching the smoke curl spin in the waning light.
That’s nice to hear Mike (and a wonderful description too), maybe you should cook for us someday. We’ll take care of the music. :D
