Dear readers, you must visit the mexican beaches at least once in your lifetime, they are so beautiful that you may never want to leave them. Deep azure-blue sea, tall swaying palm trees, silky sand, the most delicious seafood I’ve ever tasted in my life & I specially love the fact that they’re fairly free of seaweed making sunbathing and frollicking in the sea both relaxing and comfortable.

This weekend I’m travelling with some close friends to Colima (not nearly as beautiful as the ones close to the Caribbean sea but still tidy, less expensive and closer to my hometown) and as you’ve already noticed I’m very excited about it. One of several playlists I’m carrying over there is this one, it goes all over the place with a few requests from my friends (mostly mainstream hits which I’m not including here) and some current favorites of mine. If you only have the time to listen to only one song out of this list I heartily recommend “Tane Mahuta“, a sunblissed piece Afro-pop which has been blowing my mind and which I’ve frequently found myself humming at the university. Also give a listen to “Cumbia de los pajaritos” by Los Aragon, it’s a fairly short and lovely piece of psychedelic cumbia at its finest. Hope you enjoy.

    After listening to “Tane Mahuta” I just had to download the rest of the playlist. It’s not as sunny here as in Mexico, but you can feel the spring coming in the air. The playlist will compose with the weather nicely in my headphones. Hot playlist, thanks :)

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
