ROB
You couldn’t be. Look, Barry.
There’s going to be people from
Laura’s work there, people who own
dogs and babies and Tina Turner
albums. How are you going to cope
with them?BARRY
We’re not called Barrytown anymore,
by the by. They got sick of the
Barry/Barrytown thing. We’re
called SDM. Sonic Death Monkey.ROB

What do you think? Dick likes it.ROB
Barry, you’re over thirty years old.
You owe it to yourself and your
friends and to your parents not to
sing in a group called Sonic Death
Monkey.BARRY
I owe it to myself to go right to
the edge, Rob, and this group does
exactly that. Over the edge, in
fact.- High Fidelity (2000)

note: A weekend list dedicated to all music talkers out there. I am sure just about every MdM readers has been in that slightly boyish moment, where one is sure he would impress people with his music trivia and delicate details of information. But significant other and pals around somehow catch up with the game 20 minutes before one starts and know they already lost. (Altho’ admitedly you know precisely this. In fact the mixtape you bring is tailored precisely so you can sneeker inside and say, “Aha. You didn’t know that was cool and happening didn’t ya?”) This dedicated to that infantile middle school fun moment when one passes edgy and gone over the cliff, except maybe sharing it with somebody who’ve done it too. Weekend in the backyard? The list: look, those nice albums you try to get around reviewing for the blog but never have. of course. (Pinback, Grails, The Sea and Cake) K. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
