note: I can’t get through the wall to the Mystery—why music from its time can sound timeless, but music out of its time is somehow culturally less connected, less vivid and immediate. And I will still listen to it, and gladly; good music commands attention. (Dial “M”)

Most of the time I feel all music is strange and intriguing, the one that sings “Let’s dance little stranger“, “Show me secret sins // Seduce me once again”. It draws, like a lover’s voice. You heard it a million times and still you can’t get enough. Words unheard before are even more irresistible. “Burning like an angel // Who has heaven in reprieve // Burning like the voodoo man // With devils on his sleeve”.

You want to capture that short moment when melody forms in the air, illusion of order made out of quivering ether, “Like an apparition // You don’t seem real at all // Like a premonition // Of curses on my soul”

It’s when body moves, words sung, story told and emotion unfolds. Everything seems to be in the right place … you are seduced.

Take a chance with me
In my world of fantasy
Won’t you dance with me
(nv)

There are usual practical tricks like dynamic, keys, melody flows, context of one song to another that can make a song work with another, but they are not the reason. it’s always about the unmentionable. ” Show me secret sins “.

I guess what I am trying to say. Modern pieces have too many secrets by no sins.

    No secret that my sins
    have come back for payment.
    With my Lover
    who is true
    and my heart
    which seeks more
i have found the grass is
    greener,
    while forgetting that
    i am on this side
    for a reason.

Even if each song works with each other the playlist may not work with the listener.
In my opinion it’s important to give the context, the mood, into wich the playlist have to be listned. For instance, “sunday late night”, “londonism”, “Yaaaawww … .. nn” are well wrapped playlists; welcome to the jungle, instead, is a beautiful playlist, but it doesn’t catch my feelings, my imagination. Regardless this little note, I have to say I really like all your posts.

A lot of time, it is not precise. And most of the time, mdm posters need to experiment too. (On top of being lazy, and just prep something in a jiffy)

so posts can have varied consistency.

Of course we are pretty good at the basic “downtempo” material since that’s what MdM likes to post since the beginning. We can pretty much create any mood and contextualize it to wide subject matter.

But we can’t keep posting downtempo, and we also need to explore and experiments with new ideas. Difficult music, new postings ideas, etc. How to put everything differently…

It’s an ongoing process. The difficult part is actually finding that “large pattern” (weekly, monthly, seasonal) Or how to make an interesting conversation out of a list or difficult music.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
