<description>Incidentally, if you live in Chicago. This is for you.

---------------

Hey everyone,
If you get the time, please read this, especially if you are from Chicago. It's a heinous law that will effectively bankrupt small venues (like The Empty Bottle, for instance) in the name of so-called security. Read more here:

http://savechicagoculture.org/2008/05/09/stop-the-promoters-ordinance

Jim D-Rog's got a good summary as well: http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/2008/05/background_reading_on_the_prom_1.html

Finally, I did my own post about it: http://minneapolisfuckingrocks.blogspot.com/2008/05/save-chicagos-vibrant-music-scene.html

I highly encourage you do one as well. The ordinance is set to go up before Chicago City Council TOMORROW. The petition so far has about 4,000 signatures. Even if you don't live in Chicago, you know and support a band that wants to tour there. What this ordinance will do is essentially make that an impossibility, because there will be no underground, independent live music. Please consider, and then sign. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Jon Graef</description>
