Anyone who falls in love is searching for the missing pieces of themselves. So anyone who’s in love gets sad when they think of their lover. It’s like stepping back inside a room you have fond memories of, one you haven’t seen in a long time.
- Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the shore.

yusef lateef song just rejuvinated me 100%
Jorge Ben song doesn’t exist.
just to let you know,
Billy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful post… the tunes mix together perfectly, the images suit perfectly with the 60′ and with the athmosphere made by the cretes roasted under the sun and still hot in the evening.
I really love Soleil.
Thank you Mokita!
Ps: sea-line remembers me Feist’s Sea-lion
I saw Yusef Lateef last year in Amsterdam and I must say this is quite different from what I heard that evening. Very nice though, quite a peculiar mood with the subtle percussion, flute and piano playing. Excellent post again, you seem to be on a roll lately with exquisite selections!
uhm…
songs not working.
songs are definitely working for me…
one of the best playlist ive heard, fits my mood completely right now
thanks moka!
Andie & Bubba: One curious fact about the Yusef Lateef song is that it is played on a Chinese globular flute (most commonly known as ‘chinese ocarina’), which is about the size and shape of a grapefruit. I think it’s one of my favorite pieces of music by a jazz player, the whole ‘eastern sounds’ lp is a very smooth listen, mostly clean and spare - very different from other Yusef Lattef’s records.
Billy: sorry, forgot to rename the file, should be working now.
Jungle: Sealion woman by Feist is actually a cover from the Nina Simone version of the song ;) Beautiful propulsive energy on that song, always makes me move. Feist lyrics, though are very different, in Nina Simone’s version it is clearly implied she is a prostitute whereas in Feist’s version it is given a much more subtle approach.
toadys: should be working fine. btw, you haven’t replied to my email :”
Thanks Cb!
won’t stream and it redirects me to the “this is not here and this is not happening” page if i try to d/l.

Hey Moka, so you found the opening “guitar lick” for that brazillian hip-hop mix. (i’ll post it again when I found it. I’ve completely forgotten)
thanks for fixing Jorge Ben, I really like it, like the whole set, terrific.
Billy

[...] second bossa-jazz playlist to be joined with my previous post: ‘plum bamboo pine‘. I have to note that most of the music on this two playlists comes from posts that squashed [...]
The music is great.
Sorry for nitpicking, but you need to add the correct accent characters.
It is Richard Léveillé. Not Leveille.
