Wow...what a video, and photo, and good playlist.... I really like Little Joy particularly with their simple sound and Binky's poetic voice. Side note: she was on the Carson Daly show last week and wore one of our dresses. :)

It was beautiful Moka! Spectacular in the most introverted and hushed way. He was playing in a dark basement jazz-bar, the perfect safe haven for lost souls and broken hearts so it seemed. Ancient ghosts escaped from his fingers as he played the guitar, making the Korean bells hanging from the neck of guitar softly twinkle. A poet. One who doesn't need to speak your language to move you. Have you heard his "Free Spirit" album from 2002? I might even prefer that one above last year's wonderful "10 Days Butterfly".

Funny coincidence indeed about the photograph, we must have had the same feeling when looking at it. That falling dreams post was more or less dedicated to the sad Tin Hat Trio song "Empire of Light". A song that has been haunting me since I first heard that album and read about the heartbreak behind it. A couple of days after I made that post I had an evening to kill and decided to see what was playing at a jazz venue I often go to, it was a (to me unknown) collective called Cosa Brava and not having anything else better to do I went up there without too many expections. It turned out to be really cool, an eclectic combination of jazz, folk, blues, etc. But after about half an hour, when the violin player started singing for the first time, I felt an unmistakable chill. It was her! Carla Kihlstedt, the same voice as from "Empire of Light". She was there right in front of me. Talk about coincidences!

So anyway, tonight I will be seeing these wonderful people:

What more can I do Moka to convince you to come and live in Amsterdam? ;)

Bubbachups: Funny you mention it, Bubba, because I was saving that photograph for a post that I never made which was supposed to be called 'Osaka Bridge' and would have been somewhat a sequel to your fantastic 'falling dreams' post (http://www.moteldemoka.com/2008/04/08/falling-dreams/). Now I regret having used the image over here :P

Please let me know how the show went along.

Gavin: It really is. How do you master the perfect day?
Your variation is actually a variation of my own, these cold evenings I've been drinking too much tea. Waiting for the water to boil I usually take time to feed my cat. It's been a rather robotic process these days.

Moka, Gavin, please tell me the sense behind your words.
If your sentences were an excerpt of a book I would have buyed it: please explain me your thoughts.

Re: Staring at the ceiling, waiting for your hair to dry.

As for me, my variation is: Staring at the window, waiting for my tea to be ready. Existence is so absurd.

Love this photograph! Nice soft colours.

Actually makes me want to listen to some Kim Doo Soo. Which is a nice coincidence as I will be seeing him tomorrow, so I will just close my eyes and keep this picture in mind! :)
