note: There is no theme in this list, except. I am feeling really jazzy. It was suppose to be bossa, but I don’t have good idea for another bossa list. I ended up with a pile of jazz CD while trying to build one. So here are songs that stuck in my head. I particularly like the Ahmad Jamal‘s Autumn leaves. It has tight high hat like steam engine typewriter. Everything is so fast, one would thing it’s impossible to fit any melody, but there he is, filling it with short phrases. Very clever and sweet. Tomasz Stanko Quartet is new to me, I am not sure if I fall for ECM beautiful recording or the quartet’s perfectly executed tones. Delicate and pretty. The rest are well known albums that is in every jazz lovers library. Classic Blue Notes sound.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
