So Sweet

aaa006a

It was one of those perfect autumnal days which occur more frequently in memory than in life.  - P.D. James

Nat Townsley – So Sweet
(I Fell in Love with God, ABC Records, 1975)
Darondo – Didn’t I
(Let my People go, Music City, 1972)
Benny Sings – Coconut
(Benny at Home, Sonar Kollektiv, 2006)
The Moments – To you with love
(Moments to Remember, Stang, 1974)
Pilooski – Love is Wet
(Love is Wet EP, Astro Lab, 2007)
Onra – Hope
(Chinoiseries, Favourite Records, 2007)
Boomclap Batchelors – Combiner
(Brownswood Bubblers Two, Brownswood, 2007)

note: my first post for mdm, this is a list of sweet melancholia, for an autumn day dappled in light both warm and cold. Inspired by excessive chocolate and hot beverage consumption over Easter, these are songs to groove out to whilst sitting in a comfortable chair.

    Hey Andras, welcome!

Wicked playlist, oddly enough I was out of town the past few days and yesterday I was listening to exactly the same Darondo and Pilooski songs! Wasn’t drinking hot chocolate tho cause I ran out of milk so we had apple cider tea instead.

That you on the photo? Your eyes sort of remind me of Jason Schwartzman.

I’ve been coming here for a while. Not all of the music is to my liking, but I just love the photos and quotes and general feel of the page. Where do you find so many beautiful quotes?

darondo is pretty sweet moka – pity that only one album is available. the photo isn’t of me, – it’s one i took of my friend patty. I’ll tell him that he looks like schwartzman…

Heya Andras, welcome. Nice list and picture. I thought for a moment, it was moka trippin on 70′s album. Things are a bit slow, so just enjoy yourself. Anything can happen around here.

Well, we try to do variety, but most of the time its following whatever mood that come. (So, yeah things can be a bit iffy.)

The quotes? Google. A lot are well known classics, so that’s scattered on various text repository (Gutenberg, sunsite, poem.org, etc). Some are random finding. The hard tricks, most of the time is to match the mood and quote after the usual sites are over used. :D

That was strange – I was halfway through Boom Clap Bachelors before I noticed that they were singing in my mother tongue! Nice surprise, I’ve never heard of them before. Thank you and welcome!

  12. AndrasFox says:

    tom,
you should check out owusu & hannibal, two guys who are part of the boomclap batchelors. Their album living with owusu & hannibal is a similar sound and one of my personal favorites.

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
