Barefoot in Baltimore

Photo: Valerie Phillips.
Summer turns the stove on and fun begins to cook. Barefoot walks in Baltimore with empty pocketbook.
When night comes we can go walking on the shores of Chesapeake Bay.
A silence tailored for talking and a love with so much to say.

Nothing but a collection of some of my favorite summer jams this year. No vacation time for me this year so I have been spending the best part of my sunny hours idealizing myself running naked on a tropical island where music never stops and you can drink as much coconut water and daikiris as you like.
On other news, our dreamhost host is about to come to an end and we might not have enough time to do a host switcheroo, so if you have any reliable host recommendations for us please speak up. We might also be running a fund starting this weekend to help us pay our hosting costs. If you’d like to contribute and assuming we don’t experience any technical problems I predict the fund will start around Friday noon est time. We hope you can make it. There will be milk and cookies.

I’ve used lunarpages.com for years and have always been happy with them.
MdM has pretty big load during peak. (.5-.8TB) The $9.99 package barely fit, and we can’t afford the dedicated package.
Moka, start on Thursday. It’s summer, nobody is online on Friday.
The only one hosting provider I know:
http://we.register.it/hosting/index.html?chglng=eng
I have a new girlfriend and a new car is arriving… may I also start a fund? :D
With all my heart, good luck MOTEL!!
I don’t know if I can do it on Thursday, it feels too soon for me, we still don’t know how much money we will need, it depends if we end up staying with dreamhost or we change hosts… but maybe we could rearrange it for Monday? The sooner the better, it’s summer and I think many of our constant readers might be away for the holiday… I’m very afraid of not getting to the end of the fund before they cut us off.
Jungle: that hosting provider looks pretty good! The business plan is 120 euros a year (around 160 dollars) which I think fits the budget and it has unlimited bandwith and 500gb for monthly traffic per month which is way more than we need. Only problem is that their service is located in italy and most of our traffic comes from the states. I assume this would potentialy increase memory issues and possible downtimes.
Since we don’t have that much time, let’s not fiddle with changing provider. we dont have enough people to clean up the mess if we botched it (summer and all) I still think we ought to have back up service. lol. But we haven’t been posting that much, so that would be a waste.
Well. anyway. I’ll post. tomorrow, thursday and you do friday.
Then see what happens monday. (we are getting really slacking with post this summer. lol.)
gulp… and yet I already sent a passive-agressive email to dreamhost explaining our current situation and that I do not wish them to charge us the next year automatically because I might close the account… :P
I think we might have time… I’m not sure we might have 20 days… it depends on dreamhost… I don’t understand if they want me to pay before the 10th of August or if I have before the 10th of August to close the account, I already raised them this question on my email, hope they’ll answer anytime soon.
regarding the provider switch I don’t think it will be much of a problem, perhaps the lights will be out for a day at most… the real problem is that most of the other mp3 blogs are using dreamhost or some really expensive ones and I have no idea how other kind of hosts react and act with this kind of sites where we have a constant use of bandwith and disk space. At least with dreamhost we have a good customer service and they answer all my emails in a short amount of time and they also warn you when something’s gone awry. From what I get, many other hosting providers don’t bother contacting you when they take a decision.
ok. then we move. lol. when is it expires? (gah, we need email.)
should done this few weeks ago moka….gargh. (I did email you about this way back) And I guarantee you we gonna have problem with moving the domain name.
anyway, let’s move already and stop arguing. If it crashed it crashed.
Nice playlist! But for some reason, the first track is not downloading for me.
Good luck with your host issues. I wish I had a good recommendation, but I would like to help on Friday :)
So dreamhost has answered but not my question regarding if we have until Aug. 10 to close the account with no charges… sent another email, will let you know soon what our options are, if we need more time, I can simply switch to monthly payment instead of a whole year and we only pay one more month while deciding what to do.
Should we discuss this in email instead? I thought it would be better to let readers know what’s going on.
Jessie: Thanks! The first track isn’t giving me any problems, try it again, maybe there was some sort of downtime when you first tried.
moka, put the ‘paypal link’ on a post somewhere ….do you have it now?. (I know I am going to forget to email when I do tomorrow post. so…)
but I can’t put the fund before we know how much money we need :P
ps: dreamhost answered, the last day to close the account was actually July 10. Mmmm they didn’t send me a previous email 1 or two months ago tho :P Meaning if we close the account before Aug 10 and we switch host we need to pay these month of usage anyways.
[...] 14, 2009 Moka did it… don’t you think this playlist to be fresh? Don’t you think it to be… [...]
ok. we have to decide which new service to chose by tonite. (‘ll try to email and stuff)
put the paypal link (to your account anyway. I figure we need about $140-$200) it will take a few days to reach since we haven’t post consistently in few days.
Great Strawberry Alarm Clock jam. Had that on a mix myself a couple of years ago!
loving this playlist, Moka. thanks for the link.
also let me know when the fundraiser goes up
Wow..I’m truly sorry that I didn’t read this sooner….i’ll be delighted to front the money for a dedicated package..or what ever your going for….as you said it might be about $200 USD..please email me and I’ll top up the fund, with what’s needed…again very sorry for my latness..as I love your site and wouldn’t want it to go. :)

What a great playlist!! I <3 this one… its perfect for the summer… great job and good taste in music
The Toro Y Moi track really stands out. Reminiscent of FlyLo’s Tea Leaf Dancers. Nice.
Here’s a little ensemble of mine..A bit of old, a bit of new…I tried to keep any songs that might be on this site out…but that’s easier said then done…:)
The RAR is 1.3Gb (160 songs) http://www.otakubrothers.com/1978.rar
(Here’s a TxT-list of the songs) http://www.otakubrothers.com/list.txt
