Post Michael Jackson House

a-lolita-avant

This is a bizarre end to a bizarre life, made all the more bizarre by the fact that Jackson, who was unlike anyone else in so many ways, made his name performing music that convinced everyone else that he was like them in so many ways. His best songs tapped into universal emotions: jealousy, lust, anger, confusion, and, frequently at first and less often as he aged, joy. There was abiding hope that he would one day return with a record worthy of his talents, and though in recent years it seemed unlikely, he specialized in the unlikely. Everyone knows the songs. Jackson leaves behind three children and hundreds of millions of fans. - Michael Jackson, 1958-2009

.

The List Moka was listening while snorting coke at Monte Carlo party using a roll of crisp C-bill from MdM fund drive. Picture above was the proof.

01. Florence And The Machine - Cosmic Love
Lungs (101 distribution, 2009)
02. Mock & Toof - underwater demo version
Underwater (Dfa Records, 2008)
03. Maximilian Lopp - round the block
Disappear (Toptrax, 2008)
04. Kaskade - 4 AM (Adam K & Soha Radio Edit)
Strobelite Seduction (Ultra Records, 2008)
05. Bronski Beat - Love & Money
Age of Consent (1983)
06. DJ Schmolli - Justice For Billie Jean
Schnipseljagd Vol. 7 (2008)
07. Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel
Bad (1987)

note: A list I made around the time Michael Jackson passed away. I thought he was a significant pop figure that deserve a note. What I remember from him is his ‘Bad’ album, I like his ballads. They are incredibly sweet, but the up tempo disco stuff not so much. The strict rhythm leave me somewhat antiseptic. (I was listening to a lot of jazz at that time.) But maybe it suppose to be that way, a little like a late night party, somewhat exhausted, but the excitement still linger. The energy and sentiment doesn’t quite match each other but the heart refuse to let go. So here is a little late night post party list. Excess and decadent sort of party, just like the 80’s. House. One to remember the King of Pop.

btw, Undomondo has a little podcast from Kompakt. Excellent minimalist house mix.

PS. thank you everybody for the fund drive. (If the site goes a little glitchy for few days. be patient, use MdM forum.)

    i absolutely adore this shot.

especially because of the girl dancing cheekily over the yellow line. here in Sydney, all the train stations have yellow lines along the platforms to mark the point past which it is unsafe to stand. So to my eyes, that platform looks even more deliciously reckless.

    thanks x

Well I’m back! Snorting coke at montecarlo was splendid. I hadn’t had that much fun in years. We need to run more of these charity fund drives more often.
