siempre, siempre: jardin de mi agonia,
tu cuerpo fugitivo para siempre,
la sangre de tus venas en mi boca,
tu boca ya sin luz para mi muerte.

note: A list about one song, Miriam Mendez’es composition of flamenco and Bach. I’ve been listening to it for 3 days now. The utterly modern piano approach combined with an old traditional style gives such tension, I keep looking for the secret that makes it works. The dynamic of the song simply captures the tension of two distant styles being in one body.

This list is typical of why I check motel de moka as often as humanly possible while at work OR at home. Astonishing. More flamenco please.
Funny, some of the pace, emotion, vocal stylings & chromaticism reminds me of rebetika and even a little qawali.

Looking into the past is great but what about the future of flamenco? Sure, Sabicas, Paco, Vicente Amigo are great but where is the generation of new players, and most importantly new COMPOSERS? Why doesn’t anyone compose stuff that is as good or… wait, BETTER than Paco’s?
I know a guitarist who does. Tell me he is not the best composer you have listened to, recently.
