Greetings from Helsinki- I'm a native so you can count on me for describing this city accurately :) (even if it'll make u decide against coming to play here- could you? i love your blog!)

Helsinki is like Gotham City, rainy or sloshy from September till April, mostly dark and sentimental. The days are short, because the sun sets as early as 3pm in December. And since the sun rises at 9am, we have scarce daylight. At the moment there's a typical weather outside- cold rain that sticks on you like a heavy, itchy blanket. After November though, you'll have some snow, even here in Helsinki. As for the temperature, it remains around -15'C throughout winter. This causes the sea to freeze over, so basically you'll be able to ski or ice skate from an island to another. This is a definite perk of living up here, along with the crisp, sunny winter days.

I am trying to imagine the most ideal climate.

I don't mind snow if it is bright and sunny, not dark, all wet and sloshy.

I don't mind summer heat either as long as it's under 30C, a lot of shades and breeze.

The most ideal situation would be snow that doesn't melt with tropical weather. lol Imagine the amount of fun you have!

Lived in Helsinki for a while and yep, it's cold. And dark. But the summertime is fantastic: the sun shines until midnight and everything takes on dreamlike shades. But you definitely pay for it in the winter.
