Winter 2009

Lovely, in deep frozen winter way. ”

01. Egberto Gismonti - Ruth
Alma (Ecm, 1996)
02. Savvas Ysatis + Taylor Deupree - Reservoir
The Sleeping Morning (12k, 2007)
03. Erik Satie - Trois Descriptions automatiques: Sur une lanterne
Satie: Works for solo piano & piano 4 hands (2001)
04. Alva Noto - Module 7
Transform (Raster-noton, 2001)
05. Nils Frahm - Tristana (ps. 17 min. long)
Wintermusik (Erased Tapes, 2009)
06. Trentemoller - Always Something Better
The Last Resort (Poker Flat Recordings, 2006)
07. Paul Kalkbrenner - Aaron
Berlin Calling OST (Bpitch Control, 2008)

Note: Originally an over the top minimalism list, apart of glitch hop search but I altered it and add some accoustic. It works nicely, I think this is my loveliest list of the year. Tho’ this list can only work in very cold winter day while feeling alert. Definitely first thing in the morning/crisp daytime/high fidelity headphone list. Nevermind Canada, think frozen arctic tundra instead. But you will be listening with someone you like and in a warm cabin with a nice view. Plus your toes are all warm instead of frozebitten. Uhmmm…. ok. that could be a scene from comedy movie. at anyrate, this is an ultra cutting edge list. Minimalist glitch, white drone, well executed classical pieces, modern, pop electronic. Definitely winter 2009. cheers.

Definitely a powerful selection of tunes you’ve made there. I don’t know about frigid days, it’s nighttime here and not really that cold but I’m feeling deeply moved, especially by “Tristana”. Thanks.

great song choices, every one is beautiful individually, together - it becomes a surprisingly transporting experience

“Final Call” or “30,000 feet” by Ghostigital & Finnbogi Pétursson & Skúli Sverrisson on their CD “Aero” might also work on this list - they are icelandic, it adds to the wintry theme

heh.I couldn’t find better minimalist picture. A outdoor snow picture seems too harsh. I was freezing. So, the texture I guess. Plus she looks so strange. I post picture with chicken in it just now. haa haa. (I don’t even know what’s that about. but I like the color.)

Hola, amigo. Te agradezco por tal maravillosa selección. Ruth y Tristana, simplemente deliciosas, y muy bien montada la lista. Acaso quitaría o cambiaría Module 7, simplemente no funcionó para mí. Mucha suerte y felices fiestas. Saludos desde México.

Hey, dude. Thanks for such a marvelous selection. Ruth and Tristana, simply delicious, and very well armed list. I just maybe remove or change Module 7; it just didn’t work for me. Good luck, and happy holydays from Méx

It should work ok. I check the balance. if you are using headphone with accent on mid range, then it’s horrible. It sounds like loud white noises. Otherwise, track 3 and 4 should complement each other in texture. Neither one overpower the other. (But it’s a little hard if you are not into glitch. heh.)
