Off with a delicate start: A compendium of 20 torch songs bound to appeal to the hopeless romantic in all of us. Surrender. There is no track to stay on, only this sidewalk. It’s full of cracks. It’s intimate. A little pink love. And feathers are strewn.

This is a really good idea. There are at least six songs I haven’t heard before, so that is about time for me, if they are among the #200 songs for the decade for MotelDeMoka. Hurrah!

    Thank you everybody!

Niel: We get heavy traffic round noon (est time) and sometimes the server overloads and it might appear like the song is missing. I’ve checked and the link seems to be working. If you get any similar problems try refreshing the page after a few minutes or try downloading round next hour or so… sorry for the inconvenience.

Jungle: Actually the staff selections are scattered all over the place. This post contains contributions from Bubbachups, squashed and myself. No. 9 features picks by sarkailli, squashed and myself… number 8 is… i think schils… I might post the list of individual contributions to the first comment thread eventually.

Just for the record. I contributed one small list, then that’s it…I gave up. My head exploded. It really is a gigantic list. It’s all Moka.

An hour ago I was a detective. The case was this - Earth is dead - my own mind , doubled flood stage, dead bodies & lost nests somewhere near where my hair parts. I was half way in found change to a King Cobra - the haven of the Michigan unemployed. From basement to far corners I searched, it came down to this - thirty cents from my brothers coat. Alright. Another drawer opened, this one the wooden tongue of an unneeded table too long for the living room, serving no purpose now but - the keeper of an item thought lost & forgotten to anti-smoking legislation meant to curb bad lungs at age twelve - twelve year olds I care nothing of. Djarum Special halftie. The tobacco of capitalistic elegance which shared my body on the tops of parking garages - alone. The tobacco I shared hits on stoned with the first girl I kissed. The hint of richness too a million shamed breaths. This imported burgundy cylinder lived in me as the greatest moments of my youth galloped. At this point I am undecided on what I should do with this. Certainly there is a moment which this ought to be lit, and that moment couldnt possibly be in the midsts of now - the mists of Dead Man’s swamp strayed down Sycamore St, encompassing the first & a half floors of this house. On the shelf it was layed. On the speakers below everything changed. Shuffled into the straightest line Id ever seen - Screaming In The Tree’s. 00:01 in and I knew that the stolen Bic was soon to be lighter. The song that does the way it does - the crown which was layed December 31st, 2009 at 12:59:59 on both zero’s heads, made clear that the time was here. Lights off. Door opened upon a 33 degree morning. My shirt finds its way to the floor, flick, and now tomorrow is like no tomorrow I have ever known.
