Ah, sorry guys, been a little slow. I am trying to keep up. How about something to play for hot summer afternoon? I collected few early punk and new wave. That distinct British sound from late 70′s. I like them when it click, specially the melody and lyrics. “Every time just like the last // On her ship tied to the mast // To distant lands // Takes both my hands // Never a frown with golden brown” It can sing in my head over and over again softly like a lullaby. (Or maybe it’s the heat stroke.) Who says punk is all harsh. The root is all folks, songs, and blues, the things that children will sing for ages to come to fend off bad time.

Anyway, explore the web, entertain yourself while I am sorting up stuff. This can take a while, Moka will hold down the fort, so be nice to her.

Ugh. Link your goddamn songs! I swear, links only work about 50% on this blog.

They all work. I checked. however, the server can’t handle peak load, and will automatically trying to reduce files being served. (yes, that means, if someone is clicking a lot of songs, during peak traffic, a lot of it won’t work.)

…MdM has no money to get bigger server. so just have to live with it for awhile until we win big lottery. In the meantime, loading song in open server would be appreciated.

    Hey! How’ve you been?
Yeah it’s punk/new wave. I was in that sort of mood. Didn’t have time to dig new releases. Maybe I should post something about football. Argentina is playing soon. :)

There has been much controversy surrounding the lyrics. In his 2001 book The Stranglers Song By Song, Hugh Cornwell clearly states “‘Golden Brown’ works on two levels. It’s about heroin and also about a girl”. Essentially the lyrics describe how “both provided me with pleasurable times”

The song is a waltzing, harpsichord-led ballad alternating between 3/4 and 4/4. The song’s characteristic opening phrase consists of three bars of 3/4 and one bar of 4/4. The music was largely written by keyboardist Dave Greenfield and drummer Jet Black, with lyrics by Hugh Cornwell[5].

The song makes its imprint
in the air, making itself felt,
a felt world. Here, there,
the stunned silence

of knowing I will not remember
what I heard;

futures that will never happen,
a fluidity we cannot achieve
except as a child
creating possibility.

This is the untranslatable song
hidden in the earth.
